A Turkish actor, born on January 1, 1957, in Gümüşhane, Turkey. He shared the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival with Mehmet Emin Toprak in 2003 for the movie Distant. In 1974, he came to Istanbul from Ankara and joined the geological engineering department at Istanbul Technical University. His main goal in coming to this city was to become an actor in Turkish cinema, but he later gave up on this wish and shot documentaries. He had a small role in Yavuz Özkan's Yarış, then returned to Ankara in 1981 and participated for a time in the restoration of historical buildings with his brother, an architect. He was chosen as Best Actor at the Orhon Murat Arıburnu Awards in 2002 for his role in Distant, and a year later, he became a member of the jury at the 15th Ankara International Film Festival. He is best known for Distant (2002), Home (2011), and Clouds of May (1999).
