English writer, best known for creating the cartoon character Paddington Bear. He was born in Newbury, United Kingdom. He began his career working for the British Broadcasting Corporation. The novel "A Bear Called Paddington" is one of his most famous novels, which he published in 1958. Then it was turned into a series of books, from which he published twenty books. They were translated into thirty international languages. It was also turned into a television series and animated films.
