An American actor, writer, director, and film choreographer, born in Brooklyn, New York. He began his career in the Ziegfeld Follies in 1927. He continued to dance in Vaudeville, and moved to London. He starred in the British film Rhythm in the Air (1936) with his wife Tutta Rolf. He was also the father of actress Jill Donahue. Some of his credits include Babes in Toyland, Assault on a Queen, and Close-Up. He died on March 27, 1984.
