A French actress, born in Paris, France. Her parents divorced, then her father, who worked in the theater, died, and her mother had difficulty taking care of her, so she was raised by her grandmother. She was directed to acting by her aunt and uncle, French artists Jean-Louis Barrot and Madeleine Renaud. She appeared in plays in high school and then enrolled at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art.
She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for Cousin, Cousine (1975). She was a member of the jury at the 1981 Venice Film Festival. Some of her credits include Perceval (1978), Ma chérie (1980) and Stardust Memories (1980).
