He won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Director for the play Guys and Dolls (1982) and the same award for the play King Lear (1998), and was nominated for the same award for the play Vincent in Brixton (2003), among many other awards and nominations. He is known for Notes on a Scandal (2006) and Iris (2001). |
