An English writer, economist, and university professor, born in Saint Lucia. After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in commerce and accounting from the London School of Economics and Political Science, he obtained a doctorate in economics from the same university. He worked as a professor at the universities of Manchester and Princeton. His research focused on industrial economics, world economic history, and development economics, and he contributed to the founding of the Caribbean Development Bank. He also wrote a series of articles on industrial economics and studies on the world economy since 1870. He continued writing throughout his academic career, presenting studies on development economics.
