Biography

Syrian composer and actor born in Damascus in 1833. He is considered a founder of Arab musical theater, and was a pioneer in Arab dramatic theater in the 1860s. He moved to Alexandria, Egypt in 1884. His works include the TV special Afifa. He died in 1903 in Damascus.
