British actor, born in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. After graduating from Cumbria's Sedbergh School, he started working at his family's sports goods company at the age of 18. After several years of performing in amateur theatrical productions with the Bangor Drama Club, he started a career as a professional stage actor. In addition to working with the National Theater and the Old Vic, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. He starred in two Agatha Christie productions, Evil Beneath the Sun (1982) and Murder on the Orient Express (1974). He also appeared in A Man for All Seasons (1966), Young Winston (1972), and The Dogs of War (1980). He died on May 7, 1987, in London from leukemia.
