A British director, born in London. He directed dozens of cinematic works, most notably 3 parts of the James Bond series, You Only Live Twice (1967), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), and Moonraker (1979). During his directing career, he garnered numerous awards, received an Academy Award nomination for Alfie (1966) , and received the Michael Balcon Award from the British Academy (BAFTA) in 1990 for his artistic contributions. On February 23, 2018, he passed away in Monaco, France, at the age of 97.
