Also, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army's 7th Armored Division in Europe during World War II, after which he taught at Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx. McGiver worked off-Broadway until 1955, devoting himself to acting full time afterward. McGiver participated in Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), Lawman (1971), and The Glass Bottom Boat (1966). He died on September 9, 1975, in West Fulton, New York, USA, of a heart attack.
