An American screenwriter, born in Ohio, USA. He studied at the University of Michigan, and worked as a correspondent for the New York World newspaper. Then he moved to Hollywood in 1929. He collaborated with director John Ford on many films. Some of his credits include Bringing Up Baby (1938), For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943), and Sister Kenny (1946). He died on January 4, 1960. |
