An American novelist and screenwriter, born in New York City, the son of portrait artist Frances O'Brien and George Garfield, and the nephew of dancer and theater manager Chester O'Brien. He wrote numerous novels under the pseudonyms Frank Wynne and Brian Wynne before gaining...Read more fame when his 1975 book Hopscotch won the Edgar Award for Best Novel. He is best known for his 1972 novel Wish Wish, which was adapted into a 1974 film of the same name. His works include Death Wish II (1982), Death Wish V: The Face of Death (1994), and Death Sentence (2007). He died in Pasadena, California, USA.
