An American author, born on January 17, 1938, in Marshall, Michigan, USA. He is best known for his mystery and thriller novels, as well as for the fantasy novel "The Face in the Frost" (1969). He authored 18 books, including "The House with a Clock in Its Walls" (1973).
After graduating from Marshall High School, he attended the University of Notre Dame. Later on, he moved to the city of Chicago and obtained a master’s degree in English from the University of Chicago. He also taught at the College of Saint Teresa from 1963 to 1965 and at Emmanuel College in Boston from 1968 to 1969.
Bellairs is known for The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018), CBS Library (1979), and The General Electric College Bowl (1959). He died on March 8, 1991, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA.
