An American actor, born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on December 6, 1893. His most notable films are Gone with the Wind (1939), Meet John Doe (1941), and Shadow of a Doubt (1943). Irving Bacon joined Santa Clara College, California, and acted on stage in 1912. His first silent film was A Favorite Fool (1915). His career was interrupted by his service in the American Air Force during the First World War, then returned to the theater, and in 1923 he reappeared in the cinema in the film Anna Christie (1923). He presented many silent short films, and after introducing sound to films, he began working in feature films, such as Million Dollar Legs (1932), and House of Mystery (1934). He also managed to appear in the most beloved classic Hollywood films, such as San Francisco (1936), You Can't Take It With You (1938), and A Star Is Born (1954). Irving Bacon participated in famous TV series in the fifties and sixties as well. |
