His most famous works as an actor include La menace (1961), Back to the Wall (1958), and The River Girl (1954). Among his most important works as a director are The Escape (1978), Delusions of Grandeur (1971), The Sucker (1965), Le schpountz (1999), and La Grande Vadrouille (1966), which tells the story of World War II, and millions of French people watched and interacted with it, and it was well-received by critics. He died on July 20, 2006, at the age of 87.
