She made her film debut in 1930 in Hollywood. and became famous for her role in Gone with the Wind (1939). Her other notable work includes Broadminded (1931) and The Shanghai Gesture (1941). She committed suicide with an overdose of sleeping pills on February 11, 1955, in New York City.
