An American actor, born in Richmond, New York City, on April 9, 1900. Allen Jenkins began his career appearing in off-Broadway shows. He appeared in many Broadway plays from 1923 to 1962, and in the early thirties he headed to Hollywood and signed a contract with Paramount and then with Warner Bros. He made his first movie, The Girl Habit (1931). In the mid-fifties, he broke into the television field, where his most prominent participation was in the series Hey, Jeannie! (1956-1957), and the animated series Top Cat (1961-1962). He appeared in almost 40 series, and he played the role of the telegraph operator in the movie The Front Page (1974), which was his last role. His most notable work includes Tomorrow at Seven (1933), Dead End (1937), and The Falcon Takes Over (1942). He died in Santa Monica, California, on July 20, 1974.
