An American director and writer, born on November 28, 1909, in Paterson, New Jersey, USA. His works include The Story of Esther Costello (1957), Twist of Fate (1954), and Flying Tigers (1942). He was previously married to Frances Raeburn. Two of his short films, Penny Wisdom and Seeds of Destiny, won Academy Awards. His film Sudden Fear was nominated for four Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Costume Design, Black-and-White, and Best Cinematography, Black-and-White. He died on April 14, 1992, in Los Angeles, California, USA.
