An American actor, born on May 23, 1882, in New York City, USA. He began his artistic career in 1914. He is better known for The Night of the Hunter (1955), Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941), Arsenic and Old Lace (1943), and The Bishop's Wife (1947). He died on April 12, 1959, in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA.
