An American actor born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, on July 29, 1892. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1945,37,48. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his film work. Among the most important works of William Powell are: Song of the Thin Man (1947), Life with Father (1947), The Thin Man (1934), and My Man Godfrey (1936). William graduated from Central High School. In 1910, he graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts AADA in 1912 and worked in the vaudeville theater and some theater companies, then he went to New York to stand on the Broadway stage and achieved great success, enabling him to go to Hollywood to present his first film Sherlock Holmes (1922) and after presenting several films he contracted with Paramount for 7 years and played a number of interesting films. He died in Palm Spring, California, USA, on March 5, 1984, of a heart attack.
