An American psychiatrist, neurologist, researcher, physician, and professor at the University of California, San Francisco. She is best known for writing two books, The Female Brain and The Male Brain, both published in 2010. She earned a bachelor's degree in neuroscience from UC San Francisco and continued her studies at Harvard University, where she earned a degree in psychiatry and neuroscience. She joined St. Joseph's Medical Center at the Langley Psychiatric Institute in 1988, where she worked as a professor of psychiatry, along with clinical, educational, writing, and research activities.
