Egyptian poet and writer born on 31 December 1898 in Shubra, Cairo. He grew up cultured and well-read and was fluent in four languages; Arabic, English, French, and German. He graduated from Kasr Al Ainy Medical School in 1923, and in addition to his job in the Ministry of Health, he had a private practice.
Years later, he moved to Mansoura and started writing and became a leader in the Apollo School of Poetry as well as the president of the Egyptian Poets Society and founder of the Modern Literature Society in Egypt. He wrote many poetry collections such as "Cairo Nights", "In the Temple of the Night", and "The Wounded Bird", as well as over 50 short stories including "Save Me, Doctor", which was adapted into a series of the same name. He passed away on 27 March 1953 of a sudden heart attack.
