American actor, born on September 30, 1971. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1993, moved to New York City, and received a master's degree from the NYU Graduate Acting Program in 1997. He won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Avenue Q. The film Avenue Q at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles received the 2008 Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award for Touring Production. For his work on Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018), he was nominated for a BAFTA Award and an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and won several awards including the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Screenplay. He is known for Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018), Shortbus (2006), and Tales of the City (2021).
