An American theater critic and writer, born on July 12, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is the son of actor Bert Lahr. He holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a master's degree from Worcester College, Oxford. He has written several books, including "The Autograph Hound" and "Hot to Trot", as well as biographies of theatrical figures. He is also known for Prick Up Your Ears (1987), Chicago Joe and the Showgirl (1990), and Solitaire for 2 (1994).
