A Mexican actress and dancer, born in Havana, Cuba. She was active during the golden age of Mexican cinema. She was considered one of the most prominent names in the rumba-ras genre of the 1940s and 1950s and chose a career in show business. She chose her stage name as a tribute to her nanny and moved to Mexico as part of a show starring Argentine singer Libertad Lamarque. While her first appearance in cinema was in the movie Carita de Cielo (1946).
