Salma El-Sharkawy |
A Syrian historian, he was born in Aleppo. He studied at the Higher Institute of Teachers and the Faculty of Arts, Department of History, in 1949, and obtained his degree in history and a diploma in psychology and pedagogy in 1953. He taught in Aleppo's high schools, and the Syrian Ministry of Education sent him to Sorbonne University to prepare for graduate studies and a doctorate in ancient history. The University of Islamic Studies in Pakistan also awarded him a doctorate degree with distinction with honors in 1999 in recognition of his scientific production. He also assumed the editorship of the Journal of Historical Studies. He participated in historical investigations in several artistic works, such as Scientists Facing the Sun (2006), Saladin Al Ayuoobi (2001), The Falcon of Quraysh (2002), and Kings of Sects (2005).
