An American actress, who was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 1, 1914, and died in Orange County, California, on April 7, 1993 of a stroke. Arleen Whelan is famous for acting in: Kidnapped (1938), Charley's Aunt (1941), That Wonderful Urge (1948), and Dear Wife (1949). She graduated from high school, and moved with the family to California. She joined a beauty salon on Hollywood Boulevard for $18/week, where she was discovered by director Bruce Humberston, who led her to a 7-year contract with Fox. Her movie debut was On Again-Off Again (1937). In 1942, she broke into Broadway theaters, but when her career began to fade, she preferred to leave Hollywood to live in New York.
