A Canadian-British screenwriter and director, born in Liverpool, United Kingdom. He moved to Canada in 1960. He left school to become a cartoonist in the Toronto Star and then worked as a photographer for a number of small-town newspapers. He started his film career in 1968. He is known for Humongous (1982), Bullies (1986), No Contest II (1997), and The Keeper (2004).
