He was a Spanish writer, director, and actor. He was born on March 8, 1926, in Guilas, Spain. His work varied between working in cinema, TV, and theater. He participated in the Spanish version play of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman", Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1989), and Juncal (1989). He received several nominations and awards, such as the Goya Award for Best Lead Actor in Goya en Burdeos (1999), five Cinema Writers Circle Awards for Best Actor in different movies, and a Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. He passed away from compensatory dilating emphysema on August 28, 2001 in Gironde, France.
