An Italian author, born on November 24, 1826, in Florence. Children's literature occupied a large part of his life. He was known among literary masters for his proficiency in writing fairy-tale novels, and his fame spread after writing the novel "The Adventures of Pinocchio". He volunteered during the outbreak of the Italian War of Independence in 1848 to serve in the Tuscan Army. His political leanings are evident in his earliest literary works and in the satirical newspaper Il Lampione. He died on October 26, 1890, in Florence, Italy. His credits include Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022) and Pinocchio (1940).
