An American director. He started out as a journalist before becoming a documentary filmmaker. Face of Genius (1967), his debut documentary, was nominated for an Academy Award and won an Emmy. After that, he started making dramatic movies, such as I Sing the Body Electric (1976). He has directed more than thirty films since 1976, including The Great Gatsby (2000), Into Thin Air: Death on Everest (1997), and Avenger (2006). |
