A British actress, born on November 23, 1946 in London. She grew up in Dartford, Kent, the third of four children. She was educated at Dartford Grammar School for Girls and was greatly helped by her English teacher who encouraged her to pursue an acting career. She became a member of the amateur drama community in Crayford, Kent, as well as appearing in several school productions, majoring in aristocratic roles. Her first debut as an actress was with The Brothers Karamazov (1958) and her first debut as a writer was with Word for Word in the seventies.
