American writer and producer born on 29 January 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, US. He graduated from Loyola College in Baltimore and served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, served in the Baltimore Police Department for 20 years. While working as a detective on the force, he met police reporter David Simon, who would later become his writing partner. They collaborated on works such as The Corner (2000), which won 3 Emmys, Generation Kill (2008), and The Wire, his most famous work to date.
