American fashion designer, actor, and film producer. He serves as the chief designer for Isaac Mizrahi's Xcel brand. He is best known for his eponymous fashion lines. He was also a judge on the program Project Runway All Stars. He studied at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music, Art, and Performing Arts and the Parsons School of Design at The New School. He gained experience working in renowned fashion design companies before transitioning into freelance work in 1987. He presented his first collection in 1988 and won several fashion awards. He began designing men’s clothing in 1990. He contracted with a Japanese company to sell women’s clothing in Japan in 1997 and appeared in the documentary Unzipped (1995). He then retired from the world of fashion in 1998 and entered the world of fashion shows and began a program that included talks and songs. He sang in New York in 1999 and then launched a collection of women’s sportswear and became creative director of Liz Claiborne in 2008. He was also active in television commentary and reporting.
