A British actor, born on January 8, 1934. He was educated at George Heriot School in Edinburgh. At the age of seventeen, he entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. His National Service boycotted his studies in the 1950s. He appeared on stage, radio and television in Scotland before becoming a household name in Britain in the early 1960s as one of the cast members for the television series That Was the Week That Was (1962) and the Sherlock Holmes adventure film Smarter Brother (1975). He died on September 20, 1988 in Madrid, Spain of a heart attack.
