She won the British BAFTA Award for Best Actress in 1974 for her role in The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and she also won a César Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Violette (1979). She was married to Claude Chabrol and Jean-Louis Trintignant, and had one child. She died on March 27, 2018, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, following a long illness.
