French actress, born in Versailles. In the eighties, Audran participated in foreign films, most notably The Big Red One (1980). Her star quickly shone in French cinema in the seventies and eighties. She played her first famous role in Les Biches (1968), for which she won the Silver Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival in 1968. She won the British BAFTA Award for Best Actress in 1974 for her role in The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and she also won a César Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Violette in 1979. She was married to Claude Chabrol and Jean-Louis Trintignant. and had one child. She died on March 27, 2018 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, at the age of 85, following a long illness.
