A South Korean film director, screenwriter, and producer, born in Seoul. He immersed himself in manhwa and manga from a young age, spending hours in comic book cafes. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications from Seoul National University, he wrote and directed several short films. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a master's degree in film production from the University of Southern California. He continued making films, becoming known for directing the 2011 crime drama Silenced and creating the popular Netflix survival drama series Squid Game in 2021. Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2022. |
