A contemporary Moroccan writer who is considered one of the most famous pioneers of Francophone Moroccan literature. He was born in El Jadida, Morocco. He studied civil engineering in Paris, and worked in many professions such as a guard, porter, Arabic language teacher, and journalist, before moving to reside in Canada. He worked there as a teacher of Moroccan literature at the University of Vale in 1970. He was one of the first writers in Morocco to write in French. He published several detective novels in which he criticized the conditions of society. He created the character of Detective Ali, who conducts his investigations in various politically tense regions, such as Inspector Ali at Trinity College., Inspector Ali and the American Intelligence, and The Man from the Past. He did not receive much attention from Moroccan and Arab countries. He was considered a diverse and dynamic writer in presenting his ideas and engaging with the crises of reality in most of his novels, including From All Horizons (1958), The Crowd (1961), A Friend Will Come to See You (1967), and Death in Canada (1975). He died on April 1, 2007, in France.
