A Saudi writer, born in Mecca in 1939. He received his education in Mecca until he finished high school. He worked as an employee in the departments of Public Security, Passports and Nationality. He also worked in the Ministry of Information in the Directorate of Press and Publishing and in the General Directorate of Publications.
He supervised the culture and literature pages of Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper. He edited the culture section in Al Majalla magazine. He worked as deputy editor-in-chief of Asharq Al-Awsat for cultural affairs. He was assigned to establish the office of the Lebanese newspaper Al-Hayat in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia while writing a daily column in the same newspaper entitled “A Dialogue Point.” He wrote a weekly page in Al-Jadeedah magazine entitled “Words Beyond Restrictions”, a weekly page in the Saudi magazine Al Yamamah entitled “Ports on Tomorrow’s Journey”, and a daily column in Okaz newspaper in Jeddah entitled “Shadows”.
He worked in a number of Arab newspapers and magazines. He used to write a daily column in the Al-Ahram International Edition entitled “A Dialogue Point” before the publication of Al-Hayat newspaper. He wrote in Egyptian magazines on a permanent weekly basis, such as Akher Saa and October. He was writing a weekly page in the Kuwaiti newspaper Alrai Alaam.
He held the position of deputy publisher at the Saudi Research and Marketing Company, which publishes the daily newspaper Asharq al-Awsat and Al Majalla. He received an honorary fellowship from the Modern Literature Association in Cairo. He is known for the television special The Wedding. He died in 2008.
