American comedian, scientist, and program presenter.His career started off as a mechanical engineer at Boeing. He later rose to fame for his Scientific-related television program Bill Nye the Science Guy (1993–1998) and for his regular media appearances as a science speaker. Nye created the hydraulic resonance suppressor tube for the Boeing 747. He left Boeing in 1986 to pursue a career in comedy, where he created and delivered comedic pieces and had the opportunity to host the kids' show Bill Nye the Science Guy. He then assumed the role of executive director at The Planetary Society, where he published two books: "Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation" in 2014 and "Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World" in 2015. He appeared on Dancing with the Stars (2013), The Big Bang Theory (2013-2018), and Inside Amy Schumer (2015) and participated in a documentary about his life and defense of science entitled Bill Nye: Science Guy (2017), which was shown at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2017 and was selected in October 2017 to receive the Critics’ Choice Award from the New York Times. Netflix presented the series Bill Nye Saves the World (2017-2018) in the same year.
