A Finnish writer, director, actor, producer, and politician, born on February 5, 1933, in Helsinki, Finland. Donner was a member of various political parties and a member of the Finnish Parliament and the European Parliament. He worked for a long time in Sweden and was the director of the Swedish Film Institute.
He later became known as a producer through his work with the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman in the film Fanny and Alexander, which won four Academy Awards, including one for Best Foreign Language Film. His other notable credits include Här börjar äventyret (1965) and En söndag i september (1963). In 1979, he was a member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival. In 1985, he won the Finlandia Prize for his book "Far och son". He died on January 30, 2020, at the Meilahti Tower Hospital, in Helsinki, Finland.
