A Canadian actor, born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, as Nathan Roderick Cox. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his television work. Rod Cameron married three times and had two children. Among Rod Cameron's most important works are Boss of Boomtown (1944), Dakota Lil (1950), The Runaround (1946), and Trigger Trail (1944). Rod made horror, adventure, war, and science fiction films and excelled in American Western films. He played basketball and professional football and also practiced swimming and ice hockey. However, he failed to join the Royal Police because he failed the physical tests. Rod Cameron moved to Hollywood when he was young and joined Paramount Pictures to present dangerous stunts and minor roles. His first cinematic appearance was in the films Heritage of the Desert (1939) and The Old Maid (1939). With Republic Pictures, he made his first starring role in the movie G-Men vs. the Black Dragon (1943). With Universal Pictures, he played the lead role in the movie Salome Where She Danced (1945). He continued starring in action movies and American westerns, and in the early fifties, he joined television work and presented many series, the most prominent of which are the series City Detective (1953) and State Trooper (1956). When his popularity decreased in the mid-sixties, he traveled to Europe to present pasta films (a simulation of American westerns), then he returned to America to play some secondary roles in cinema and television. He retired from work in 1978 and died in Gainesville, Georgia, USA, on December 21, 1983, from cancer.
