A British-American Actress who was born in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom. She married twice and did not have children. Her most important works include The Three Musketeers (1948), The Killing of Sister George (1968), and Fortunes of Captain Blood (1950). She was one of three daughters born to an English mother and a Spanish father.
She began her artistic career in adolescence in the 1930s and got starring roles in the mid-1940s. She left for Hollywood, where she obtained American citizenship and had a prolific career in the early 1950s, yet by the end of the decade, her cinematic roles faded, and she began a prolific career on TV in the 1960s.
She returned to cinema in 1968 with the movie The Killing of Sister George and continued her television work with some movie appearances in the 1970s. Her last appearance was in 1978. She died in Los Angeles, California, USA on April 28, 2012.
