He starred in the short film Slightly Static (1935) and the feature film The Old Homestead (1935). Within three years, he presented with his band more than ten films as a singer and guitarist and began to work steadily in American Western films. He joined Republic Pictures and was given the new name, Roy Rogers. He began his television career in the early fifties, presenting The Roy Rogers Show in 1951 with his wife Dale Evans, and the program continued until 1957. He presented 102 episodes. He retired from the screen in 1984 and continued to perform and sing until 1991. He died of heart failure in 1998, and his wife Evans died three years later.
