American actress born in New York City, New York on 10 February 1901. She was born to a theatrical actor parents Jacob and Sarah Adler, the youngest of six children who all appeared on Broadway. She made her stage debut at the age of 4 at her family-owned theater, and at 18 years old she appeared on stage in London. She studied in NYU and afterwards spent 10 years in vaudeville and Yiddish theaters across the Americas and Europe, and appeared in around 100 plays, then appeared on Broadway. She left for Russia to study theater at the Moscow Theater for Arts and came back to work in Hollywood. She appeared in 3 films which are Love on Toast (1937), Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), and My Girl Tisa (1948) and on 2 episodes of the series Suspense (1949) but was not very successful. She then decided to found Stella Adler Academy of Acting in New York City which teaches method acting. So many great actors studied there such as Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, and Elizabeth Taylor. She died of heart failure on 21 December 1992 in Los Angeles, California.
