An American television presenter, born in Brookline, Massachusetts. After graduating from high school, he entered Harvard University, from which he graduated in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in American history. In the second and third years of his studies, he contributed to the Harvard Lampoon magazine. He was the first person in 85 years to hold the position of president of the magazine for two years. After graduation,  he moved to Los Angeles. He spent two years as a writer for the "Not Necessarily the News" television show. Then, in June 1988, he began working as a writer on the comedy program, Saturday Night Live, where he spent three years. During this time, he and the writing staff won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1989. From 1991 to 1993, he worked as a writer on the animated series The Simpsons.
