American actor born William Sterling in Newcastle, Pennsylvania on 13 November 1917. He moved to Hollywood in 1938 to pursue his acting career and changed his name to Robert Sterling. He made his onscreen debut on Blondie Meets the Boss (1939). He appeared in about 29 films between in 1939 and 1940 alone including First Offenders (1939), Outside These Walls (1939), and Yesterday's Heroes (1940). In 1941, he appeared in supporting roles in A-list films like Two-Faced Woman (1941) and Somewhere I'll Find You (1942). He made his Broadway debut in 1951 on Gramercy Ghost. He appeared in over 40 TV series including Love That Jill (1958) and Ichabod and Me (1961). Other notable works of his include Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961) and Roughshod (1949). He married twice and had four children. He died on 30 May 2006 in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California.
