Maryam Nouhy |
An English actress born in Blackgang, Isle of Wight, UK. She later moved to King's Cross, where her parents managed a pub. She went to Dartford Grammar School and received a scholarship to RADA. She appeared in several stage productions in London then made her Broadway debut in Entertaining Mr. Sloane (1966). Her first TV breakthrough was on the series The Rag Trade (1961).
Her first theatrical success was on the play "Rattle of a Simple Man" on the Garrick Theatre in London, and in 1969 she appeared in the West End production "So What About Love?". In the 1980s, she toured the UK with the Royal Shakespeare Company and later with the National Theatre. She was appointed OBE in 1974. She was awarded Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2021 Queen's New Years Honours List for her services to Drama and to Charity. Among her credits are Carry on Cleo, Take a Girl Like You, and Three Men and a Little Lady.
