An Indian-born American author, model, actress and television presenter, born in Chennai, India, to a Tamil family. She moved with her family between Chennai and New York at a young age. She completed her education at William Workman High School in California in 1988, and graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1992, where she earned a BA in Theater Arts. She started her modeling career at the age of 21 in Madrid, and she was the first Indian to model in Paris, Milan and New York. She has appeared on the covers of several magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, and Allure. Among her credits are Top Chef, Glitter, and Sharpe.
